I hope you don't consider this any kind of intrusion, but I am currently researching a piece for a psychology journal, looking into the strong emotive links between food and memories of divorce. From talking to both men and women who have gone through the experience of divorce, it seems that certain foods provide them with the strongest emotional reminders of their divorce. An example is one of the women I have spoken to who cannot even bear the mention of chinese food, as her and her ex-husband used to always eat chinese food together for special occasions etc.
It seems memories or the smells of food, above all else, serve as one of the strongest triggers for remembering divorce or an ex-partner, and it is this relationship I am currently exploring. I was wondering whether anyone can relate to this idea or experience, and would be willing to talk and discuss their experiences with me, even just through this forum or email. I would be hugely grateful, as it is integral to my research.
